Contexte géographique et culturel
The State Archive of Tomsk Region preserves documents on history of Tomsk region, Altai and Krasnoiarsk Districts, the Republic of Gorny Altai, Akmolinsk, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Semipalatinsk regions, which in diferent periods of history belonged to the former Tomsk Gubernia.

В Государственном архиве Томской области хранятся документы за 1629 - 2013 годы. За период до 1917 г. имеется около 300000 дел. Наиболее информативными и значительными по объему фондами данного периода являются фонды Томского губернского правления, Томской городской думы и управы, Томского городского полицейского управления, Томского горного управления, Окружного инженера Томского горного округа, Управлений Томской и Сибирской железных дорог, Управления Западно-Сибирского учебного округа, Томского университета, Томского технологического института, Томской духовной консистории и др.
